Children's concert "Hansel and Gretel - a fairy tale opera to play along"
Music: Engelbert Humperdinck, concept: Susanne Flück
Admission prices: CHF 15 for children, CHF 25 for adults, unnumbered seats
Program:
Do you know the fairy tale of the two children who got lost in the forest while picking strawberries and ended up at the house of the crispy witch? Certainly! The composer Humperdinck invented new parts and wrote many beautiful songs about them. And the ending is a big surprise!
Would you like to decorate a large paper gingerbread before the concert? We'll glue it to the witch's house so it looks real. You can take it home after the concert. But that's not all. You can always help out in the concert: singing, dancing, witchcraft and finally eating!

The mezzo-soprano Amanda Schweri, who comes from Aargau, studied singing at the Bern University of the Arts with Marianne Kohler and with Krisztina Laki at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich. Already during her studies she won prizes in various competitions, e.g. of the Swiss Association of Musicians and the Friedl-Wald-Competition. She obtained both her teaching and soloist diplomas with distinction. She made her opera role debut at the Biel-Solothurn Theater as Aminta in Mozart's Il Re Pastore. Other major opera roles in her field followed: In the role of Aurelio in Anfossi's “Il curioso indiscreto” (Bienne-Solothurn Theater) she graduated from the Swiss Opera Studio with distinction. In 2015 she performed as Nancy in Flotow's “Martha” at the Volksoper Zurich. She made her debut as Dorabella in Mozart's "Cosi fan tutte" in 2017 in Küssnacht with the Canton Schwyz Symphony Orchestra. The mezzo-soprano is also on the road on the concert stage: from J. S. Bach's oratorios to contemporary works, she is engaged as a soloist at home and abroad. As an active member of the professional ensemble Les Voc-à-lises, she cultivates singing in the ensemble. Amanda Schweri lives in Bern.
Rachel Maria Kessler completed her studies in Biel with M. Kohler with a teaching diploma. She trained as a functional voice pedagogue with E. Rabine and from then on teaches at a music school and privately in Bern. From lute songs to today's pop songs, from church music to languorous love songs, as a soloist or in the ensemble Les Voc-à-Lises... the singing of epochs and styles reflects her love of music and performance. Rachel Maria Kessler is co-founder of Spielraum7.
